If you love Nutella, read on (I’m assuming that’s everyone)…
You don’t have to have a sweet tooth to love Nutella. I know that’s true for me. While I would say that I have a “salty tooth” (and yes, I’m clearly aware that’s not a ‘thing’), I only enjoy sweets once in a while. During my last pregnancy I had constant midnight cravings for Nutella on bread. It’s a classic meal, one that brings back fond memories. As a kid I used to have Nutella sandwiches for lunch at school regularly (this was before peanut butter bans). I also have many memories from my childhood of hanging out with my friends while eating Nutella in warm pita (it’s delicious and you need to try it if you haven’t already).
While we don’t give it to our kids for lunch, it’s still a staple in our pantry and every once in a while, when our kids want dessert (after they finish their meals of course), we serve them Nutella in a wrap. It’s a family favourite for us, and I’m sure for many other as well.
That’s why I’m excited to share that Loblaws at Maple Leaf Gardens (60 Carlton Street) has recently opened up a Nutella Cafe!
Any type of snack or dessert idea that you’ve ever had about Nutella is served here including creamy milkshakes, gooey paninis, scrumptious waffles and crepes, refreshing gelato and selection of mouthwatering croissant pizzas. Chef, Mark Russell’s creations pare food and flavours that compliment the delicious taste of Nutella we all know too well.
I tried out few mini waffles. I had one with milk ice cream and another with peaches. I also took home four different Nutella pizzas for the boys and my husband.
These are perfect if you’re looking for a unique hostess gift or you can grab some before you head away for a weekend. Each “pizza” slice is $4 or you can grab a full pizza (3 slices) for $10.
Next time you’re downtown Toronto and you’re looking for a family-break, I would highly recommend that you stop by the Cafe to sample some of the sweet selections. You can share or eat it all yourself. The possibilities are endless and it makes for a sweet break in your day!
