I remember when we moved into our house 10 years ago. My parents insisted that we clean our ducts before moving in. Similarly, when we did a major renovation right before our oldest son Kyle was born, we hired a professional cleaner to ensure all of the dust and other indoor pollutants were removed from the ground, walls and ceiling. We also got our ducts cleaned again. While these measures are helpful after a big change, it’s just as critical to ensure the air quality in your home is clean on an on-going basis.
Ideas to reduce indoor air pollutants
Did you know that the air quality inside your home can be up to five times worse than the air quality outside? There are some simple and quick ways to help keep your home clean from pollutants including taking your shoes off OUTSIDE before you enter your home, opening up the windows, buying organic mattresses and bed sheets and using chemical-free cleaners. However, all of these ideas are not always practical year round and they don’t help remove the air pollution that already exists.
Year-Round Purifier
When I received the opportunity to try out the new Dyson Pure Cool Purifier I was thrilled to test it out. I’m already a big fan of Dyson vacuums and I was intrigued to see how the same technology would work in a purifier. Besides, my husbands always complains of cooking smell in the home, so I knew the fan feature would come in handy too. The system was easy to set up and even comes with an app that allows you to remotely control the purifier or check in on your home’s air quality, even when you are away from home.
I currently set my machine to automatic which monitors, reacts and purifies as needed. However, there have been several instances when the fan came in handy. As our basement window is small, removing odor can often be an issue. I just relocate the machine and set the fan to 10 and within a few hours the odor is all but a memory. In fact, the fan came in handy on multiple occasions including this past weekend when I accidently burnt the bottom of the pot while cooking. Since the desk fan is so compact and includes a tilt function, we plan on moving it to our room during the warm summer days when the air conditioning just doesn’t do the job.
The Dyson Pure Cool Link Desk purifier retails for $499.99. While initially that might seem a little steep, most decent fans sell for $100 – $200 and this one has the added benefit of purifying the air. This is certainly a decent price to pay for investing in your family’s home air quality. Dyson’s high quality products are durable, multi-functional, safe and easy to clean. That’s why I would recommend this product to families, especially if you live in the city. Aside from this, you can also take a look at services like furnace repair if you have any issues with home’s heating and cooling.

This looks really cool. I just replaced our furnace filter last night and lets just say we got some dirty air (and vents :X). Love that its multi-use. The older I get the more I appreciate items that take care of multiple jobs. Running out of space in the house is not cool
