While Disney’s Hollywood Studios may be one of the lessor known parks at Disney World, it was definitely one of our favourites (top 4 for sure). Hollywood Studios is home to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Frozen sing-along and Disney Junior Live on Stage. However, we loved it because our favourite ride and characters were located there and also because it now has several Star Wars attractions. If your kids are Star Wars obsessed like mine, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is your MUST-STOP on your Disney World trip.
Here are some of the highlights from our trip:
Toy Story Mania
By far this was my favourite ride in Disney World. This fast action, fast moving ride will bring out the competitor in anyone. Sitting next to my oldest son Kyle and wearing our 3D glasses, we rode around shooting at various carnival game targets along the way. Some targets are stationary while others move. The best part is that some targets come to life using 4D special effects. Watch out because you might get sprayed by water from the balloon you just popped! This is such a fun ride and its suitable for kids of all ages; including parents! Kyle loved competing against us and seeing everyone’s score at the end of the ride. While competitive, it was all in good fun!
Everything Star Wars
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now home to everything Star Wars. While we were there, John took Kyle to experience Star Tours, a 3-D attraction that takes you to a galaxy far, far, away! Kyle did close his eyes a few times so I would recommend this ride for older kids.
Since our visit back in November, several other Star Wars attractions have been added. The Star Wars Launch Bay allows visitors to choose sides, good or evil, in order to meet with their favoruite Star Wars characters like Chewbacca and Darth Vader (and soon Kylo Ren). Here you will also find exhibits that showcase the various fleet ships, props and murals replicas. My kids enjoyed spending time in the gift shop that is full of Star Wars merchandise. The best part was creating their own light-saber.
The new Star Wars: Path of The Jedi is a retelling of the Star Wars saga (episodes I – VII) in just 10 minutes. This will sure to thrill both seasoned Star Wars fans and newbies alike. Of course, visitors will be able to find several Star Wars photo opportunities, with both characters and replica movie props, situated throughout the park. If your kids are eager to (pretend) battle (as mine often do at home), they can now get official Jedi Training at the park and then use their new knowledge and skills while fighting villeins from the Dark Side.
One of my favourite parts about visiting Disney World were the spectacular fire works offered throughout the parks. Although I didn’t get to witness the all new Symphony in the Stars – A Galactic Spectacular, I can only imagine how amazing it was. Disney’s firework evoke feelings and memories of the movie as if you’re watching Star Wars for the very first time.
Food
While we get a chance to enjoy any character meals during our visit, this recommendation came from a seasoned friend of mine who has been visiting Disney World with her family for several years now. Your kids can meet their favourite Disney Junior characters while you dine at Hollywood & Vine. Characters include your child’s favourite friends from Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First, Jake and the Never Land Pirates and Handy Manny. The restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch.

I’d say Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith was my favorite ride at Hollywood Studios!
