Whether you like it or not (and I don’t), winter is officially upon us. The first snow fall came early this year along with the cold temperatures and unfortunately, cold and flu season. While my husband and I do our best to keep our boys healthy by giving them plenty to drink, providing them with healthy food, and washing their hands often, my sons were hit pretty hard with a virus this month. In fact, this is the first winter my oldest son has been so sick; he’s been fighting a fever for two of the last three weeks. It’s also his first year at school so he’s more exposed and susceptible to germs. While I know it’s great for building his immune system, as a mom, there’s nothing worse than seeing your kids in pain. So, we decided to visit urgent care services in downers grove for a checkup.
I’ve taken a few extra steps these past few weeks to try to keep the bacteria and viruses around our house at bay. Whatever germs my older son brings home may eventually impact my other sons. I taught him to sneeze or cough into a tissue or his sleeves or elbow, but that is not always top of mind for a four year old who often resorts to using his hand instead. Since my youngest is only three months old, I want to do my best to ensure that the bacteria do not spread. One of those ways is using Lysol to clean and disinfect surfaces and objects around the house that are used by my boys.
I use Lysol Disinfectant Spray on toilet and sink areas, faucets and doorknobs. I simply spray, let stand for 10 minutes and allow it to air dry before use. The Lysol Disinfectant Wipes are great on our kitchen counter tops. While I often use my son’s wipes for post meal cleanup, I’ve changed to Lysol since they are more effective at eliminating bacteria while cleaning. My boys are already pretty good about washing their hands frequently (they really enjoy it for some odd reason), but it’s always good to make it even more exciting. They love our new No-Touch Soap Dispenser and will use any excuse to wash their hands. I keep one in our main floor bathroom which is where we spend most of our time at home. It’s also great for guests.
Check out this great resource from Lysol for more great tips on cold and flu protection.
If you want to get some Lysol Disinfectant products this holiday season, grab this coupon for $1 off any two Lysol products.
This year, when we give my son’s teacher a holiday gift, I’ll also provide her with a few Lysol goodies for her classroom as well. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it and love it just as much as we do.
This season, don’t forget to make Lysol a part of your overall family kit that you use to combat the cold and flu.

UGH! First year at school brings so much nasty germ activity. Sorry he’s been so sick. Poor guy! Hope that he feels better soon. Love your counter but the way. I need to remember to use these regularly.

I love all of those products to help my little guys through this time of year. They all have their own unique purpose and they all have a similar on at the same time – keeping that nasty not so good time away.

I just read somewhere that a computer keyboard is 5x dirtier than a toilet – yuck! So, this post came at the perfect time… I need to remember to disinfect stuff more often. 🙂

I’ll never forget the first year my daughter went to daycare…she was sick for WEEKS! And consequently couldn’t go to daycare… 😉 I love the idea of a no-touch soap dispenser. I’m a bit of a germaphobe so that works for me.

Great tips. If one child gets sick they all get sick. Just a matter of time. I love using the Lysol wipes for doorknobs and remote controls ect.
