I find it interesting to see how much my habits change as I get older. One of the ways is how rigid I’ve become in my sleeping habits. I used to be one of those people that would sleep anywhere, anytime. In a car on a road trip, in a seat on an overnight train in Europe, in a tent, on my couch, on a cot and basically any time of the day if I was tired. Not so anymore. Now, it must be a king-size bed and MY BED! It’s a rare occasion when I have a good night sleep or am able to fall asleep easily if it’s not on my own bed at home. My own bed, my own pillow and my own sheets. So much so that I often bring my pillow with me when I travel. Except I forgot it on a plane once (sigh!), so I stopped doing that.
The one thing that I’ve become very accustomed to that I just love is using bamboo sheets. If you’ve tried them, you know exactly what I mean! If you haven’t, you don’t know what you’re missing. For starters, there are health benefits to using bamboo / organic sheets as they contain fewer to no toxins. Bamboo also releases moisture quickly, keeping the temperature comfortable for sleeping. They are also super soft and comfortable. My husband always jokes and says “nothing touches this body but bamboo.” It’s funny, but after you’ve made the move, its also partially true!
I recently received an opportunity to test out some bedding sheets from Maple Harbour, a bedding and linen company based in Canada. I chose to try out one of their bamboo sheet sets, the Eldorado bamboo Sateen duvet cover set. It definitely didn’t disappoint. I not only love the quality and feel of the the fabric, but the set also has a beautiful design. It’s suitable to match almost any decor style you may have and it the look provides a great “perk-up” mood for the long, cold winter months and a perfect fit for the warm and bright summer months.
The set retails for $164 and includes a duvet cover, flat sheet and two pillow cases which may be similar to those on silk pillowcase UK. I would recommend getting a fitted bamboo sheet to go along with the set. It’s totally worth the investment for a good night’s sleep.
Maple Habrour offers clients bedding sets, comforters, quilt sets, curtains and shower curtains at affordable prices including a whole line of products for kids. Besides the fact that this company is Canadian and makes beautiful bedding, they also collaborates with a number of non-profit animal shelters and adoption centres and a portion of each purchase contributes directly to the organization chosen by the buyer. How amazing is that? Very few companies give back and this one does so with each sale. I just love that!
Have you ever tried using organic / bamboo sheets? Do you agree that it’s the best?
