Back to school is nothing but a distant memory for most parents. The falling the leafs and the cooler temperatures bring in a new type of change; cold and flu season. Interestingly, being a stay at home mom, and having my boys home with me, we didn’t really experience a family “epidemic” until Kyle started school last year. Kyle was out of school for several weeks through most of November and December. He caught something and it was bad.
This year, I have Kyle in school full-time and Ryan in nursery school part-time, three days a week. Almost immediately after he started nursery school he came down with a stubborn runny-nose that has persisted until now! Luckily, it never worsened and it seems to be slowly, but surely, improving. Of course, now my youngest son, Nathan, seems to have caught the same bug. Luckily, it never progressed to the point where any of my kids had a fever, ear infection or needed a visit to the Doctor.
What can we do, it’s cold and flu season in Canada and whether or not we like it, we need to embrace it; or at least, be prepared for it. Last month I wouldn’t dare leave my house without a small packet of Boogie Wipes and at some points, I brought along the big container (90 count) of Boogie Wipes because we were going through them so quickly. I love how soft and gentle the wipes are, especially since Ryan and Nate’s noses were red and sore. If I ever tried to wipe their nose with anything else, they would scream and turn away.
Besides the wipes, we always ensure that our boys wash their hands whenever they come back indoors after a busy day running around outside and before we eat. Luckily, Kyle and Ryan enjoy washing their hands and love the easy pump and scents of the Kandoo hand wash.
While I haven’t had to use it yet, I always like to keep a new container of nasal spray around. Last year, it came in very handy when Nathan had a hard time breathing because of his stuffed nose. Boogie Mist is easy to handle and spray and it’s so gentle and refreshing, Nathan didn’t mind when we used it. In fact, he thoroughly enjoyed it as can be seen in this video:
