Some things in life are just a necessity. Like paying our bills, taxes, and taking out insurance on our home, car, and life! Visit www.lifecoverquotes.org.uk to find life insurance quotes that suit your needs. While I think all of these things are important (accidents do happen after all, and you need to protect your assets and loved ones), I don’t always love the price tag that comes along with them. But did you know there’s now a way you can potentially reduce the amount you pay on your auto insurance policy up to 30%? And what if I told you that the power to get that discount is in your hands? If you’ve faced legal issues related to driving, consider consulting drink driving solicitors who can provide valuable assistance and guidance tailored to your situation. You may even meet with a Detroit car accident lawyer if you get injured in a vehicular accident.
Here’s the scoop… Allstate Canada has a new free app, called Drivewise. The app monitors your driving habits for a 6 month period and rewards you for good driving behaviour. It assesses your driving on three main things: speeding (over 125km/h), time of day you most often drive, and hard braking . I always thought of myself as a good driver, so I decided to put myself to the test and see what discount I would receive based on my driving.
After 30 days, I’m proud to say that I never sped once. However, I definitely have had a few instances of hard breaking – meaning that I’m following other cars too closely (who me???). Clearly, I have some improvements to make. I was able to see my results immediately after every trip. I liked this because I became more conscious of my driving behaviour and I was able to adjust immediately.
At the end of my trial, I found that I qualify for a 10% discount on my driving insurance. How amazing is that? Truthfully, if nothing more, having this app really made me be more mindful of my driving which is always a good thing!
There were a few times when John drove the car and I was the passenger but Drivewise still collected the data. Same when I took an Uber on a few instances. Thankfully, I was easily able to go into the app and make note that I wasn’t the driver. This is a great feature because, let’s just say that John sometimes sped (on our far drive to Kingston) and Uber drivers aren’t always the safest. It was nice knowing that those trips wouldn’t count towards my final score and more importantly, John learned that he needs to drive a little more slowly.
The Allstate website says it best:
Want to save more? Drive safer! The better your driving habits are, the higher the discount you’ll receive.
For more information, check out the Allstate blog. Non Allstate customers can download the trial version TESTDrivewise and current customers can use Drivewise. To download Drivewise or TESTDrivewise, visit the AppleApp Store or Google Play.
I highly recommend that you give the app a try and put your driving to the test. After all, you have nothing to lose. Either you’ll get an amazing discount on your insurance or you will learn that you need to be a safer driver. Plus participants in the program won’t experience an increase in their premium as a result of participating. It’s really a win-win!
