There are several benefits to having three kids, especially all of the same gender. The most obvious being hand-me-downs. Typically, whatever we purchase or receive for our oldest son will typically make it through to our youngest son. It’s a great way to save money and help out the environment. However, there are some things that will not make it through and that includes car seats, since they have an expiry date. While this is a little annoying since car seats can be costly, it is for safety reasons, so I get it (mostly). So when it came time to upgrade our third son’s bucket (infant) car seat, we needed to get a new one.
Funny enough, we waited as long as possible until we were ready to transition Nathan out of his bucket seat. We moved Kyle and Ryan out of their infant car seats around six months but with Nathan, our third, it was so much easier to keep him in a bucket sit. Since we are always on the go, Nathan would often take his naps in his car seat. Infant car seats are ideal for transferring the baby in and out of the car without having to physically move them. Pure genius if you ask me! Hence, the delay… It wasn’t until he turned 15 months that we decided it would be time to move him into a bigger seat (even though there was no safety issue to keep him in his infant car seat).
When I first received the Cosco Scenera Next Convertible Car Seat, it appeared simple. But what it lacks in bells and whistles, it makes up for in price and functionality. The fabric is soft, to make it comfortable for your kid. The Convertible car seat can hold children up to 40lbs and is easily installed. In fact, on two occasions when Nathan did fall asleep in the car, my husband was able to easily remove the car seat from the car so he can continue napping inside.
While car space isn’t an issue for us (we have a van), you could fit three of these Cosco car seats in the back seat of most cars.

Personally, I think that even if you already have a car seat, this one would a perfect seat to buy for “grandparents” car. I love that this seat is narrow enough to fit 3 in a row. We have 4 kids (2 in boosters) so it would be nice to have the ability to put 3 seats in a row so we could have an extra seat free if we wanted to have a friend over.

I have to say I love how compact these seats are! I had twins and 14 months later our third so space in the car was an issue, and we’ve had to switch vehicles a couple times to accommodate for all our kids in a car seat.

The Cosco Scenera Next Convertible Car Seat sure does pack a lot of great features into a very attractive price point. I think I’m most impressed that your husband could easily move the seat from van to home when baby has fallen asleep. As I’m in the market for the next seat stage for my son I’ve been doing a lot of research and many out there seem big, bulky and confusing. I’ve read reviews and watched videos and some take forever to install so this feature is perfect as my son loves his van naps. My favourite feature is that I could fit three of these Cosco car seats in the back seat of my car. I have to fit 3 seats in my car at least once per week when I babysit my daughter’s friend. Right now I have to use the jump seats in our small SUV to fit my older daughter in the back. I would much rather fit all 3 little ones across in either of our vehicles so that I don’t have to deal with setting up the jump seats!
I like it that you can fit three in a row. One of my kids car seats is somewhere around the size of two adults and it makes it hard to fit more in. Big deal for the next car seat that I buy.
As a first time grandparent living in NB and my grandson living in Ontario, with would be great to have on hand when the family flies in for a visit.
