Lots of families have their yearly rituals, be it their annual family trip or their holiday traditions. For my family, it’s getting a season pass to Canada’s Wonderland every summer. It might have something to do with the fact that I spent many summer days there during my childhood but my kids love it just as much as I do. It helps me fill the “what are we going to do today?” void on days when the kids aren’t in summer camp. The kids have fun and are appropriately exhausted by the time we get home. It’s a win-win for everyone really.
If you’re contemplating whether or not you should get a Canada’s Wonderland Season Pass, here are my top 5 reasons why you should!
- Two new rides! While we all have our favourite Wonderland rides (right?), it’s always exciting to try out the new rides. The Lumberjack is a thrill ride for older guests. Visitors sit in one of the swinging axe pendulums where they’re propelled into the sky through 360 degree loops. Riders will experience a similar feeling to being on an inverted coaster loop. The other new ride, Flying Canoes, is an interactive family ride that will allow riders to control their journey of flight in two-person canoes. While we haven’t had a chance to try out these rides yet, I have a feeling that the Flying Canoes will be a big hit with my kids while the Lumberjack rides has my name written all over it! Not to mention, Season Passholders get special early access (from 9:00am – 10:00am) on Sundays every week beginning April 29 – September 2, to some of the most popular attractions including Leviathan, Behemoth, and the two new rides, Lumberjack and Flying Canoes!

When the weather cooperates and the sun comes out, there’s nothing better than cooling down at Splash Works. In fact, that’s one of the best parts about Canada’s Wonderland… It’s an amusement park and water park in one! You can’t get the best of two worlds anywhere else in Ontario. Sometimes we just come to the park and spend the entire day at Splash Works. New this year is something that I’m really excited about. Splash Island’s children’s pool in Splash Works will transformed into Lakeside Lagoon! It will be double its size and will feature all-new interactive spray features that everyone will enjoy. Season Passholders also get early entry to select attractions in Splash Works every day it’s open from 10am – 11am! Now we just need to bring on that sunshine!
- Funnel Cake… and other delicious foods. No trip to Canada’s Wonderland is complete without a funnel cake (or two). It’s definitely our favourite treat to get when we’re there. On super hot days we get some DQ ice cream and there’s always plenty of food options for my fairly picky eaters. Between pizza, subs and chicken fingers, no one ever goes hungry during our visit. Not to mention, there’s a Tim Hortons and Starbucks on site too – when you just need some extra coffee (aka ‘mom juice’).
- Special events throughout the season. With so many special events planned throughout the season, you will definitly want to come back for another visit. This summer’s line up includes The WoofJocks Canine All Stars, Fire Works over the long weekends, KidZfest, Canada Day celebrations, Taste of Greece and Italy and much more!
- The pass pays for itself in just two visits. If you plan on visiting the park twice this summer, your season pass will pay for itself. Passes are currently sold for $71.99 for visitors ages 3 – 59 (kids 3 and under can enter for free).
