Worst Holiday Gifts.Think you can beat this list?

Christmas is just a few days away and while most of us have made a wishlist, it’s not a guarantee that we’ll actually receive gifts that we want.  I know the worst gift I ever received was $100 cash for my birthday…from my HUSBAND! So there you go Rob Ford, not all women want cash as gifts!

On one of my recent posts, I asked readers to leave me a comment describing the worst gift they ever received.  Some of the answers were funny, some were downright sad and some were very cliche (ie. vacuum). There were also a lot of obvious re-gifts. Most of the bad gifts seemed to have come from in-laws (shocker?!). Here are some of my personal favourites from the collection of ‘worst’ gifts.

– Chia Pet

– a rendering of The Last Supper on velvet … not even something I could possibly re-gift!

– singing wall fish

– a pair of thong underwear… given at the office gift exchange.

– oranges

– Sardines as a joke gift but there was never a follow up real gift and I am a vegetarian

– a snuggie

– my mother in law bought me a scale

– My MIL put tampons in my stocking one year

– my brother took a photo of me and my newborn son and swapped our heads onto each others’ bodies in Photoshop, then framed it.

– I once got a ball from my grandparents which actually turned out to be a dog chew toy.

– I got luggage for Christmas when I was 17!

– The worst gift was car wash coupons – and I don’t own a car!

– I got a pair of pierced earrings and my ears are not pierced

– An electric shaver for my legs… From a boyfriend

– I had an elderly neighbour give me a stick of deodorant for xmas one year

– I got a box of chocolate with two chocolates missing

– My MIL gave me an ugly vase that looked like she picked it up at the dollar store.

– my husband bought me a brita one year lol. i looked inside to see if there was a ring or some kind of jewelry but no…just a brita

– a dog calendar…..really boyfriend, really!?

– hubby bought me chocolate – i’m allergic to chocolate. turned out he wanted chocolate

– expired chocolate

– a broom

– a re-gifted piece of jewelry with the card still in the box!

– a maternity shirt as a gift when we were first dating!

So… what was the worst gift you’ve ever received?

Hopefully this holiday you get everything you’ve wished for and more.

Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas from my family to yours.

I can totally see people either loving or hating a chia pet as a gift. Hopefully someone you know sees this comment : )
Interesting that a Brita has been mentioned a few times as a bad gift. Lol

I got expired candy this year, EXCEPT,it gets even better… Therr were 2 pieces-
    1.
It was a big bag of toffee candies which s tought I saw on his night stand before a couple times…Feeling crazy I checked expiration date-5 days expired and as I unwrapped one candy it was already covered i n a n green fungus!
But there was also a small bag of chocolate bars and gum, wrapped in a foil ,he gave it to me and said- here, I wrapped it myself! – Looking super proud.
But question-why on earth would he buy a couple bars+ gum and then wrap them in a tiny foil! I mean, there are gorgeous chocolate boxes! Looks like a regift from work..
And for a cherry on top he went away to his family and I stayed alone in halls… Like totally alone….
    Yeah…
