Hug it out to feel better. Enter to win a Big Hugs Elmo for your family (US & CAN)

In one arm, my husband holds our three year old, a smiley, high-energy kid with a zest for life and all things “fast”.  In his other arm, he olds our sweet, smiley and much calmer eight month old son.  I come in for a group hug and in the sweetest, cutest voice ever, my older son says “awwwwwwwww… our family”.

Yes, it’s cheesy, but what can I say, it’s my favourite thing in the world!  I’m so grateful my sons loves to ‘snuggle’. To me, nothing cures a bad day or a sad feeling better than a hug, especially if it comes from my kids.  I also find that hugs work best to sooth my kids.  If my oldest son is having one of his 3-year old tantrums, after a few minutes, if he’s still upset, I walk right over, and without saying a word, I hug him and just like magic, his tears disappear and his happy demeanour returns.  When my baby takes a tumble as he’s learning to crawl, I immediately rush over for a hug.  It may be my mother’s instinct, but whatever it is, it works.  It calms him down almost instantly.  It’s also the first and last thing I do every day with my kids.  Truly, there’s no better way to start a day.  That’s why I knew my son would go wild when he first played with Big Hugs Elmo.big hugs elmo

When we first removed Elmo from the box, my oldest son spent the next ten minutes hugging him.  Sure, there were a few minutes where he put his face in Elmo’s mouth (what three year old wouldn’t find that amusing), but the rest of the time he spent hugging him.  And who could resist.? Elmo is the perfect size for a toddler and he’s soooooooooooooooo soft. And guess what my older son did first thing this morning? He came down and gave Elmo a huge morning hug!  It’s the sweetest sight to see.  My hope is that if he’s ever upset, and we can’t sooth him right away, that he’ll hug our newest friend, Elmo.

PTPA and Playskool have teamed up with Mayahood and one lucky reader will win their own Big Hugs Elmo valued at $69.99. Enter the giveaway via Rafflecopter (please give it a few seconds to load).  Contest is open to all residents of Canada & USA. Contest ends Friday October 25, 2013. Good-luck!

The latest time a hug helped my son was when we were fishing and he almost had a fish reeled in when it managed to get off the hook and swim away. He was upset but my husband gave him a bear hug and cheered him up.

One day sitting beside her hospital bed she motioned for me to come closer and she reach up and gave me the biggest strongest hug she could muster up. She said to me, don’t worry I will come through this and be alright and she is doing well now with her rehab. That hug was the best..Even though I have kids and nieces and nephews to give this to if I win, it’s going to Mum!

My 5 year old is having a REALLY hard time being in kindergarten (being away from me). My 6 year old is in grade one at the same school, and the school is so smart! When Kristopher seems to be having a really really really hard time, they have been utilizing Thomas by bringing the two of them together. They will take Kristopher to see Thomas in his class, let Thomas walk Kristopher back to the kindergarden room, or just put them together for a minutes so that they can have a quick hug so Kristopher knows he’s not alone. Its been working too, he’s doing much better this week!

My son recently decided that he wanted to learn to ride his bike without training wheels, He let us help for a little while but decided that he was big enough to do it alone. Needless to say he ended up falling and skinned both of his knees. We hugged him, kissed his boo boo’s, applied band aids and he was all ready to go again.

There is never a bad time for a hug.. I think hugs should be given everyday weather you think they are needed or not. I hug my kids ( 33 & 32 ) everytime I see them and everytime they leave. I hyg my grandkids constantly, with extra big long hugs when they fall or are sad. Their hugs always brighten my day.:)
