We’ve already used up every sticker in our house, painted the same dragon / hockey game scene 100 times, played with sensory finger paint, done two treasure hunts, made a fort and even brought out the “only use if you must” playdough! I look at my watch and only 10 minutes have gone by. Honestly? What am I supposed to do for the rest of the day?
I’ll tell you what… repeat the activites above and mix in a little TV and iPad. Shhhh… It’s a big parenting secret. But it’s true. Winter has made me resort to technology for some (a lot) help.
The truth is, we go to programs every morning and by the time we get home it’s lunch and I really only have 4 – 5 hours to go before I get some help from my husband, but those last hours seem like FOREVER. Being coped up inside your house all day long can make you go something something. And no…. I can’t take my kids outside, this winter is just not willing to give us a break. I guess I’d rather have my kid watch TV than get frost bite. I’m not proud of my parenting choices at times but I’m human. So that’s why my son has been exposed to some extra tube time. I know, it’s not a proud moment as a parent, but it’s the truth. But if anyone asks do me a solid and just say it is winter’ fault!
What do you do to keep your kids entertained indoors during this cold winter weather? Any suggestions welcome!

Invite a friend over for kyle to play with. If your lucky they will invite kyle to their place another day. And in my opinion, a little bit of educational TV is really ok. So don’t be so hard on yourself!

We bought our kids a mini trampoline for inside. It really helps them release some energy and they love it!

This is a horrible winter!!! Today is sunny out and I had to force my little one out to play in the snow!!! Last year we were out all the time but this year… Nope! I think there are a lot of us losing parenting awards this year! 🙂
